"Flex" writing has some benefit but remains inadequate; it can't fully address your students' needs. Consider having something written just for them - capitalizing on their strengths and addressing their weaknesses. Good writing doesn't avoid weaknesses, but finds a satisfying means to improve upon them.
Does your middle school jazz ensemble have only one trumpet? Does your concert band have 14 percussionists? Do the skill levels in your group vary wildly? Do you have a song you'd like to do, but the right chart doesn't seem to exist?
My writing is infused with over two decades of experience teaching public school band. I can promise an arrangement that will be educationally sound and allow your students to shine. You provide your group's instrumentation, strengths and weaknesses, and I'll craft something just for them - and you can be involved in the process as much or as little as you'd like.
