SAM FETTIG - Composer

Sam Fettig is a Wisconsin-based composer whose music has been performed by professional and educational ensembles throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. His catalog spans orchestra, chamber music, wind ensemble, jazz ensemble, brass, and choral music.

Recent recognitions include wins in the 2026 Dallas Winds Fanfare Contest, the Common Resonance Call for Scores, the 2026 Tunescribers International Arranging Competition, and the Plattsburgh Clarinet Choir International Call for Scores. He has also received finalist honors from the National Music & Global Culture Society (NMGCS-V) 2026 International Composition Competition (NYC), the Cambiata Arts Phantomnesis International Composition Competition, the European Recording Orchestra, the Heartland Symphony Orchestra, and the National Flute Association.

Recent performances include the York Symphony Orchestra (Pennsylvania), Clarinouveau 2026 (Montréal), the National Flute Association convention, and chamber ensemble performances in Scotland, Germany, France, and the Netherlands.

Fettig’s writing is rooted in the classical tradition and informed by his work as a jazz saxophonist and music educator. Those experiences shape music that is idiomatic and rewarding for performers, and alive and relevant to audiences.

In addition to his work as a composer, Fettig is a published author and educational consultant with Hal Leonard. As a professional saxophonist, he has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and alongside Doc Severinsen, Johnny Mathis, Lou Rawls, and Maynard Ferguson. He holds degrees in music education from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater and VanderCook College of Music.
