For 8 trumpets, Grade 5. Duration - 5:30
This arrangement of Billy Joel’s And So It Goes invites the listener into a world of both intimacy and brilliance, as only a trumpet ensemble can convey. The piece begins with Joel’s beloved melody clothed in warm, expansive harmonies.
What follows is unexpected: the tune transforms into a fast-moving ride that explores Joel’s melody with fantasy-like interludes, radiant fanfares, and imaginative turns - showcasing both the power and subtlety of six trumpets in concert. After these adventurous detours, the work comes full circle, ending in a place of quiet beauty.
