FREE BUCKET DRUMMING PACKET
Works great if you are doing bucket drumming as a short unit - a fun break for concert band!
Starts with unison patterns ... an orientation to parts of the bucket.
Proceeds to grooves - kinda makes a drum set out of the bucket.
Culminates in nifty duets for which you can have partners or split the class in two.
FREE CLASS GUITAR TOOLS
Google Slides for learning the fretboard, picking and strumming materials, rubrics, etc.
DAILY LISTENING - A bell ringer activity
THE IDEA:
Music is playing as students enter. They fill out this short form each time. Decide how many (if any) points it will be worth.
I've been doing 3 points. And I generally only look at "Tell me something about this music" for their grade.
It can be as quick as 2-3 minutes, or as long as - heck, the whole class if it's something you want to expand on. I tell them if they are stuck on that one - just listen to the stuff I'm telling them about the music; always give them some facts/info when I reveal the title and composer after the listening.
Of course, it leaves wide open what you listen to. However, you can take them through this list for a history of classical music from ancient chants to modern day. Then after that, go nuts with any genre. And you can be timely - for instance, we listened to Alan Jackson's "The Day The World Stopped Turning" on 9/11.
